Tag-testing starts now!

Posted on: September 12th, 2016 by David Finch

Grading Day: Sunday, 2nd October 2016

From this week onward we will be looking even closer within each school and starting the process of “Tag-Testing” those students who we feel are ready to move up to the next level.

For those students successfully tagged (this will continue up to the end of September so please do not worry if you / your child does not receive a tag straight away) you will also receive a letter outlining the details of the day and what each student needs to bring.

There are login details and the website address on this letter for you to use to download the appropriate forms.

Tag-Testing will commence for both our Colour-belts (White – Blue incl.) as well as our Panel Students (Red-Stripe and above).

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to speak to your Instructor.

Busy end of the school year with more visits

Posted on: July 24th, 2016 by David Finch

The 2015/16 academic year ended with an exciting week of school visits and Martial Arts P.E. lessons.

Monday, 18th saw a visit to The Canterbury Primary School as part of their “Do What You Want” week.  Years 2-5 all participated in a fun, self-defence based Martial Arts class – the effort and concentration throughout was exceptional.  We are very much looking forward to working with this school even more next year.

Shortly after, we visited Ashford Oaks Primary School as part of the Charles Harris Olympic Legacy Programme.  This legacy is designed to introduce children to sports and activities that they would not normally participate in.  Congratulations to all the children and staff for their energetic participation.

Huge Grading success

Posted on: July 4th, 2016 by David Finch

For the first time we saw Gradings for our colour-belts and senior grades all on one day and it certainly did not disappoint.

Everyone in every class has been working so hard for the last few weeks and it really did show in the level and attitude on the day.

In the morning we saw our hugely excited Mighty Matts show some incredible concentration and energetic drills, much to the delight of Mr Harris our Grading examiner.  This was followed by our Juniors and Adults who worked extremely hard – showing the results of some really dedicated training.

After a short break it was the turn of our Panel Grading students (Red-Stripe & above) and it was certainly an impressive performance by everyone.  This Panel Grading in particular was one of the toughest challenges our students have faced and we had plenty of sweat and tears, pushing the boundaries of even our most seasoned students.

Each and every candidate gave 100% throughout and it was an absolute pleasure to see everyone achieve what they have.

From our senior students I am delighted to announce the successful promotion to:

Red Belt

  • Ben Davis

Deputy Black Belt

  • Jasper Knight
  • Emma Watson

1st Degree Black Belt

  • Alfie Glenie
  • Ella Newey
  • Megan Hill
  • Marlowe Greenhill-Jeffery

2nd Degree Black Belt

  • James Manners
  • Romesh De Zoysa
  • Emily Calder

3rd Degree Black Belt

  • Charlie Hinder
