Wonderful day at Chislet Primary School

Posted on: April 29th, 2014 by David Finch

On Monday, 28th April we were invited to spend the day at Chislet Church of England Primary School to teach a day of fun Martial Arts PE lessons and what a great deal of fun we had too!

All the children (and staff) were simply amazing and extremely welcoming.  From Reception class to Year 6 everyone got stuck in and learnt some basic Martial Arts techniques and Stranger Danger.

In addition, well done to Henry & Jasper who attend our Reculver School who did a great job of assisting in their classes.

Well done everyone at Chislet and we look forward to visiting again very soon.

Canterbury Sunday classes – Summer

Posted on: April 21st, 2014 by David Finch

Sunday classes at Simon Langton Boys School, Canterbury

Due to the school’s exam period all classes held on a Sunday will be run from the Old Gymnasiam and not the Sports Centre.  For those of you who are unsure where this is in the school simply park in front of the main school reception entrance and follow the pathway to the left of the building.  This will take you past the swimming pool (on your left) and then around to the Old Gymnasium.

This will run from Sunday, 11th May – Sunday, 22nd June (incl.)

Class times will run as normal.

2014 South Champs – wow!

2014 Southern Championships

Oasis Leisure Centre, Swindon

Saturday, 5th April

After months of hard work, sweat, laughter and even some tears the MF Kent Team headed up to Swindon for the 2014 Southern Championships for what was to be the largest regional tournament ever held.  Over 270 competitors took part and the atmosphere was simply electric!

It takes a great deal of courage and heart to stand in front of a huge crowd and perform and so to watch each and every one of the team perform to their very best was inspiring.  For some, it was their very first tournament and they are undoubtebly stronger Martial Artists for it.

Success on a day like this is not measured by medlas or trophies but by the knowledge that you have done your utmost and tried your hardest.  I can say with a great deal of pride that this was the case throughout the team.  Yes, we came home with a bag full of medals (15 in total), but this would not have been possible without the great team ethic we have and I have no doubt that we are a stronger Martial Arts family after the weekend.

Here are the amazing team members:

  • Amy   Chivers
  • Ben Osborne
  • Charlie   Hinder
  • Danny Cseh
  • Edward Carter
  • Ella-Mae   Homewood
  • Emily Calder
  • Emily Lyall
  • Frankii   Gibson
  • Gill Gibson
  • Harrison   Cullen
  • Harry   Richardson
  • Harry Salih
  • Harry   Watkinson
  • Jack Salih
  • Jake   Porter-Ward
  • John Boon
  • Kaidi Salih
  • Lauren   Coulthard
  • Lauren   Russell
  • Libby   Whitfield
  • Millie-Rose Hinder
  • Nick Chivers
  • Oscar Edge
  • Polly Anna Johnston
  • Sardeep Gill
  • Summer Wilson
  • Thomas   Harrison

If you have not seen them already there is a huge number of fantastic photos on Facebook which really do capture what an amazing day it was.  We train as a team and we competed as a team and all of that would not be possible without the unwaivering support and enthusiasm of our parents, family and friends who all went through the emotions of the day.

I would also like to thank Mrs Daly, Mr Cullen, Mr K Homewood, Mr B Homewood & Mrs Homewood for their motivation and hard work on the day as well as Mr Gill, Mrs Gibson and Mr Cseh for their help in preparing the team.

Congratulations to you all – you can be so proud of what you have achieved and I look forward to seeing you all in class to celebrate.
