Success at the South East Championships

Posted on: May 2nd, 2018 by David Finch

On Sunday, 29th April the Matt Fiddes group held the second South-East Championships and it was wonderful to see so many students and families attending.  With more competitors this year, we knew it was going to be a fun but challenging day and our little team performed so well!

For some it was their first tournament and for others, who are more experienced, it was an opportunity to be role models and help the team through the day.  It is no exaggeration to say that we had some outstanding performances and I am so very proud of each member of the MF Kent Team.

It takes a great deal of commitment, hard work, determination and passion to perform at a Championships and I look forward to celebrating their successes in class this week:

Gold x 5, Silver x 3 & Bronze x 2

MF Kent Team:

  • Millie
  • Evie-Sue
  • Charley
  • Tsvetan
  • Simon
  • Mason
  • Jack
  • Hugo
  • Henry
  • William
  • Katie

Thank you to our wonderful team of coaches, Instructors, families and friends who all made the day go smoothly and offered so much support and enthusiasm.  It was a fantastic atmosphere and such a positive experience for everyone.

Well done MF Kent family!

Congratulations – belt presentations

Posted on: March 27th, 2018 by David Finch

A huge well done to every student who attended the recent Grading day on Sunday in Canterbury.  The entire day had such a positive and energetic atmosphere and it was wonderful to see so many amazing performances.  It was clear to see that you all worked so hard and deserve your rewards.

Grandmaster Murphy was very impressed with you all, especially our little Mighty Matts and is very much looking forward to returning later on this year.

I would like to also say a big thank you to the MF Kent family who gave up so much time to help on the day and this includes all you wonderful parents too – thank you for the day and for your continued support.

To give us time to get all the belts and certificates together we will be making belt presentations in class from Tuesday, 3rd April onward.

Congratulations to you all and I look forward to seeing you soon!

Tag-testing starts now!

Posted on: March 5th, 2018 by David Finch

Colourbelt Grading & Panel Grading

Sunday, 25th March 2018

Simon Langton Boys School, Canterbury

This week we will be starting the process of tag-testing in preparation for the first Grading day of 2018.  This is the start of tag-testing so please do not be worried if you or your child are not tagged straight away.  We have just under 3 weeks to sharpen things up.

As always, if a student is ready they will receive:

  • Black tag
  • Grading letter

To earn a black tag students will not only be required to remember their techniques and drills but “perform them” as well as demonstrating the correct attitude.  If a student is not quite ready that is ok.  There are plenty of other opportunities through the year. Please remember, all students progress at different speeds and there is no rush.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
