MF Kent Row for Charity

Posted on: July 28th, 2013 by David Finch

2013 Dover Regatta Boat Race

The day may have started off wet and windy but the sun finally came through on a wonderful day of fun rowing at the Dover Regatta Boat Race.  We had 2 teams made up of students, parents, family and friends with plenty of noisy support on shore.

Each of the boats, MF Enterprise & Men of Steel, rowed their hearts out and had so much fun on the water.  After a busy day with one of our boats reaching the quarter finals it was time for the most important race of the day – a race-off between our two teams.

After nearly crashing into each other we finally got a clean start.  Clearly shaken but the danger, Men of Steel seemed to make a break for France whilst MF Enterprise stuck to their task and come away with deserving bragging rights.  Sadly a forfeit must ensue even for me!

Thank you to everyone who came, supported and made a splash.  We helped to raise £2000 for charity which as a fantastic effort!

Until next year…

Men running for charity

Posted on: July 15th, 2013 by David Finch

Saturday, 13th July saw a blisteringly hot day in Herne Bay for the annual Man on the Run charity event, raising awareness and money for cancer.

Both students and fathers turned up for the MF Kent Team and everyone did wonderfully well to help raise an amazing £10k for charity – amazing!!!

Thank you so much to everyone that took part and came along to support.  It is amazing to see so many people getting involved and to know that we, as a community Martial Arts School, can have such a positive impact within our local area.

The students that took part were:

  • Jake Porter-Ward & Scott Porter-Ward (father)
  • Charlie Hinder & Darren Hinder (father) & Steve Hinder (uncle)
  • Saom Anisi & Amir Anisi (father)
  • Tiree Daly & Cormac Daly (father)
  • Tony Rockall (Lauren Coulthard’s father)
  • Jack Robbens & Mr Robbens

Launch of the 2013 Canterbury & District Sports Awards

Well done and thank you to everyone that turned out for the launch day today.  We had a fantastic turn out and we certainly drew the biggest crowds of the day with some amazing Martial Arts!

To perform as you all did in-front of the public takes courage and you can all be very proud.  We had lots of compliments and when a passing policeman comments on the “fantastic discipline and focus” of the young students this confirms what a great family we have.

A huge thank you to all family and friends who came along to support us too.  Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Thank you to everyone in the MF Kent Team!

Bring Our Buddy & MF Kent

We are very proud to announce that the MF Kent Family are officially working with Bring Our Buddy (BOB).  BOB, a service of Voluntary Action Within Kent is a community based service supporting young people across Kent who have a mild/moderate disability.

Our classes and teaching methods have been recognised to have a potentially huge benefit for young children with the aim of giving them the confidence to be who ever they wish to be.  In addition, we believe that we have some wonderful students of our own who could well prove to be inspiring “Buddies”.

If you would like to know more details about BOB, volunteering as a Buddy or finding out more about their services do not hesitate to contact me.
