Man on the Run 2014

Sunday, 6th July

Hampton Pier Avenue

Yes gentleman, that’s right – it is that time of year again when you need to hunt down those trainers, dust off the shorts and start moving for cancer research!

We at MF Kent are very proud to be entering a team for the 3rd year running for this year’s Man on the Run.  We will be helping to raise much needed funds and awareness into male cancer research.

Last year the amount raised was over £17,000 which is absolutely amazing – all of which went to the charity as it is organised on a volunteer basis.

This is event is open to all males of any age and you can walk / jog the 5k route.

You can register at: www.manontherun.org or call 07711 431442

Entry fees: £12 – adult / £6 – under 18’s

This is always a fun morning and we look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.

Westmeads Infant School raising money for charity

Raising money for Children in Need 2013

On Wednesday, 13th November some of the children and parents of Westmeads Infant School in Whitstable took part in a breakfast Martial Arts class (starting at 7:45am!) to raise money for Children in Need.  Many of the students are MF Kent students but their parents had to wear pyjamas which created many giggles all around.

We had so much fun and the parents were absolutely fantastic; getting involved in everything and helping with the children.

This special class was one of many things the school took part in to help raise as much money as possible for Children in Need.

You can view some great photos from the morning session by clicking here in the “community” section.

Well done everyone!

5:45pm walk / 7:30pm run

We are very proud to be one of the sponsors this year to help raise much needed funds for Pilgrims Hospices.  Last year we entered a team and had so much fun and 2013 is proving to be bigger and better.

You can either go for a 3km stroll or 5km run through the streets of Canterbury City Centre, taking in the historic sights.  Registration can be done online or on the night (please note it is more expensive to register on the night).

Please wear your Martial Arts uniform if you are walking / running.

HELPERS WANTED

To help this unique event run smoothly it would be wonderful to have a group of adults to help on the day – organising runners, directing people and generally making the night run smoothly.

Please e-mail me (kent@mattfiddes.com) or you can download a helper form from the Pilgrims Hospices website.

Thank you in advance for your help and I look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible – spread the word!

CANTERBURY & DISTRICT SPORTS AWARDS

Closing date for nominations coming soon!

The nomination period for the Canterbury and District Sports Awards, held in association with Matt Fiddes Martial Arts Kent, closes in 10 days’ time.

We believe there are hundreds of talented athletes, dedicated coaches and unsung heroes behind every sports club, but we need your help to recognise their achievements. There are eight categories to chose from but please consider who within your club deserves to be rewarded, even if that person is you.

The top three candidates in each category will be given two free tickets to attend the awards evening on Friday 18 October, where the winners will be announced.

This year, the evening will be hosted by the BBC South East sports presenter Neil Bell. Legendary rugby player Nicky Little will be sharing his experiences of being Fiji’s highest points scorer and there will be a performance from one of the stars of last year’s Paralympics Opening Ceremony.

If you don’t want to miss out on the chance to celebrate all that your club and individuals have achieved this year, then get nominating before midnight on Friday 20 September 2013.
