Father and son running for Cancer Research

Posted on: June 6th, 2017 by David Finch

On Sunday, 2nd July one of our adult Black Belts, Saom, and his father Amir, will be taking part in Man on the Run; a wonderful 5k run raising much needed funds and awareness for male cancer research.

This is such a fantastic cause and challenge – one which we know you will both triumph in.

Good-luck to you both and let’s all help them hit their fundraising target.

Day of P.E. at Hernhill Primary

Posted on: April 25th, 2017 by David Finch

On Monday, 24th April we were invited to spend a day at Hernhill Church of England Primary School to deliver a day of Martial Arts P.E. lessons.

We taught 5 lessons for years 2-6 and what a fun time we had.  All the children were incredibly focused and well behaved and really got stuck in!  Lots of kicking, balance and learning about what it takes to be a champion in life.

Thank you to everyone involved and well done to all of the wonderful children.

Light Up The City 2016

Saturday, 22nd October 2016

Dane John Gardens, Canterbury

We are delighted to once again be supporting Pilgrims Hospices and their “Light Up The City” event this year.

This is an utterly unique charity event taking in the sights and sounds of Canterbury at night and this will be the 4th year that the MF Kent family have helped and supported this event.  Last year the event raised an amazing £20,500 and I am sure we can improve on that.

You can register by clicking here.

This is open to all members of the family, of any age and you can even take your pet on the walk!

  • 3km Walk
  • 5km Run

So dust off your trainers and find something that glows and come and join this hugely popular and fun event!

See you there!

Busy end of the school year with more visits

Posted on: July 24th, 2016 by David Finch

The 2015/16 academic year ended with an exciting week of school visits and Martial Arts P.E. lessons.

Monday, 18th saw a visit to The Canterbury Primary School as part of their “Do What You Want” week.  Years 2-5 all participated in a fun, self-defence based Martial Arts class – the effort and concentration throughout was exceptional.  We are very much looking forward to working with this school even more next year.

Shortly after, we visited Ashford Oaks Primary School as part of the Charles Harris Olympic Legacy Programme.  This legacy is designed to introduce children to sports and activities that they would not normally participate in.  Congratulations to all the children and staff for their energetic participation.

Whilst she continues her regular training at our Canterbury School, on behalf of the MF Kent Team and the children at Blean Primary School we would like to thank Aryana for all of her help and dedication.

Yr6 Fun at Barham Primary School

Posted on: June 18th, 2016 by David Finch

We were delighted to be invited to teach the Yr6 children of Barham C of E Primary School on Friday as part of their activity day.  This was a special day organised with the Canterbury School Sports Partnership and gave the children and chance to try new and diverse activities such as American Football, water-based netball (not water polo!) and of course Martial Arts.

Well done to all the children and it was wonderful to see everyone tackle all the challenges like a true Black Belt.

Olympic Legacy continues at Hernhill Primary

Posted on: June 10th, 2016 by David Finch

Thursday, 9th June saw the MF Kent Team continue their work within the community with a fun day of Martial Arts PE lessons at Hernhill CofE Primary School.

This day was part of the Charles Harris Olympic Legacy Programme, set-up to provide opportunities to young children across the region that they otherwise would not have experienced.

We were extremely impressed with the amazing attitude, energy, concentration and manners displayed by all the children – a true credit to the school.

As well as lots of fun-filled exercise and Martial Arts, we focused on Concentration for years 2-5 and Having a Black Belt Attitude for year 6.

Well done to everyone involved and we hope to visit again in the new academic year.

This week we continued our work within the community with a day of fun-filled & educational Martial Arts classes for years 3-6 at Whitstable & Seasalter Endowed CE (Aided) Junior School.

The school is running a “Try Something New” week with lots of different activities such as archery, music, dance and, of course, Martial Arts.

We taught 6 x 45-min classes through the day and it was great to see every child (and teacher!) getting involved and smiling throughout.  Well done to everyone involved.
